Those stamps are listed in the most stamps catalogue (Gibbons, Yvert & Tellier, Michel) and most Europa stamps collectors collect those stamps anyway, I decided to publish them on my blog, from now on, even if they aren't official stamp issues.

Sir Martin Ryle - In 1959 the Radio Astronomy Group at the University of Cambridge led by Professor Martin Ryle published the Third Cambridge Catalogue of Radio Sources (3C) which led to the discovery of the first quasi-stellar object (quasar). It was a landmark map of stellar sources and Ryle’s work led to confirmation of the Big Bang Theory. Ryle was knighted in 1966 and awarded the Nobel Prize for his work in 1974.

50 years CEPT 1959-2009

50 years ago the CEPT was established. During more than thirty years (1960-1992) they were responsible of the "Europa CEPT" stamps issues, the former name of the present Europa stamps.

Strange enough, only one country is celebrating this anniversary, although 19 countries were founding members so the CEPT fifty years ago.

Here is the Irish stamps commemorating the 50 years of the CEPT bearing the famous CEPT logo which was present on each Europa CEPT stamps !

A must for each Europa stamp hard core fan :o)
